At McCarthy Construction, we understand that a house is a structure, but a home is a feeling. Whether we are breaking ground on a bespoke new build or reimagining an existing property, our mission is to create spaces that reflect your personality and enhance your quality of life.
Starting from a blank canvas, we specialize in delivering new homes that adhere precisely to our clients' specifications. We collaborate closely with you and your design team to ensure every detail of your plan is executed with excellence. From structural integrity to high-end finishes, we blend traditional techniques with modern performance standards, ensuring your home is constructed to your exact standards and built for generations to come.
More homeowners than ever are choosing to upgrade rather than move. We specialize in transforming existing structures into modern, high-efficiency living spaces.
By taking advantage of retrofit home improvement grants, we help you create a "thermal envelope"—upgrading walls, floors, roofing, and windows—alongside advanced heating systems.
The result? A significantly improved BER rating, reduced energy costs, and a level of comfort and luxury that makes an old structure feel brand new.
At McCarthy Construction, we don't just extend or repair; we use the best modern solutions to improve your home's performance so it feels, looks, and breathes like a new build.
Let us help you create your ideal dream home.

McCarthy Construction are an excellent choice for anyone considering a renovation project in Clare. John & his team took our 300m2 home from a D1 -> A2 BER with a deep retrofit renovation (including full interior fit-out) and resolved every challenge along the way without any fuss. They are professional, friendly & fair. Working with excellent local & international suppliers, craftsmen and designers, they have produced a result we are simply delighted with!
As an architect, I value precision and the ability to translate complex drawings into tangible, high-quality results. They consistently demonstrate a deep understanding of structural integrity and aesthetic intent. Whether it’s navigating tricky site conditions or executing bespoke finishes, their attention to detail never wavers.
I look forward to many more years of successful builds together and highly recommend them to any client or firm seeking top-tier execution.
We recently completed a large full house renovation with John and we are delighted with the overall result. In addition to the building works, John’s company was able to supply and fit our kitchen and fitted wardrobes .The standard and attention to detail was exceptional. Throughout the project, we found John to be very approachable, patient with us in explaining choices and details and he contributed many good ideas that enhanced the final result .
John recently renovated our house to meet current energy standards. The works also included updates to the internal layouts and a complete interior fit out. John and his team have been brilliant from start to finish and we couldn’t recommend him highly enough. We had many bespoke, specific requests throughout the project which John worked through and completed meticulously. We’re so glad he said yes to our project!
